FAQ

Is this an organized event?

No. Idaho Smoke and Fire is an informal, unsanctioned and unsupported bikepacking challenge. A shared start is simply a time when independent riders may choose to begin their own attempts.

Is there an entry fee?

No. There is no entry fee, prize money or promised support.

Is the route marked?

No. Riders must navigate independently and should carry appropriate maps, GPS devices and backup navigation.

Will someone monitor my tracker?

No continuous monitoring is promised. Tracker information may be delayed, inaccurate, unavailable or unnoticed.

Can I receive help?

Use only services commercially available to all riders. Planned private support, caches and sag assistance are inconsistent with a recognized self-supported attempt.

Can I ride at another time?

Yes. The route may be attempted as an individual time trial, subject to current access, closures, land rules and any published window for inclusion in annual records.

What happens during wildfire or a closure?

Obey all closures and instructions immediately. Finishing or preserving a recorded time is never more important than safety, land protection or legal compliance.
